Senior Picture Information

We want you to look and feel your best for your senior portrait. We have compiled a list of recommendations that will assist you in getting the most out of your time with us.

Recommendations for Both Men and Women:

Clothing;

Arrange to bring several outfits to your photo session in a variety of colors. include different styles, such as casual, semiformal, formal.

Remember to bring accessories for all outfits, from footwear to jewelry and hair accents. Make sure footwear matches the outfit and be sure they are clean and that both socks match . Check your clothing ahead of time to make sure it isn't spotted or faded, and transport your outfits (you can wear one when you arrive) on hangers to prevent wrinkles.

Don’t bring outfits with words or designs, stripes or pictures, except possibly your school logo. You want your face, eyes and expression to command attention, not the words on your shirt. Please choose clothing that isn't too tight fighting or too loose. If the clothes don’t hang/drape off of you correctly it will not look good.

Solid colors are recommended for most or all outfits. Colors that go well with a medium or dark background for close-ups include medium or dark tones of green, brown, rust, wine or blue. Darker shades tend to make people look slimmer. Try not to wear flesh-tone or neutral colors such as white, beige, tan, pale peach or pink, or gray, as these can dominate the picture and make you look washed out. Select clothing that will complement your skin tone. Darker colors for lighter skin tones, and lighter colors for darker skin tones.

Glasses & Braces;

Glasses can cause unwanted reflections, or visual distortions. If possible remove the lenses from the frames for the shoot. Often your optometrist can lend you a pair of empty frames similar to the ones you wear.

Your braces are a part of who you are and shouldn't be avoided or hidden. However, if they really bother you, they can be digitally “erased”, see our pricing sheet for details.

Props;

You are welcome to bring props to your shoot. Anything you feel defines you. Musical Instruments, Sports Equipment, Trophies, your car! What ever you like, be creative.

Sleep;

Make sure you get at least 2 nights of good sleep before your photo session so that you will look fresh and won't have bags under your eyes.  Beauty sleep is real....

Bring a friend;

Being comfortable during your shoot is very important. If you bring someone along with you that can put you at ease, and draw out the natural smile, it will make for a better portrait

Make sure your hands are presentable;
Hands can show up in some of your favorite poses, so be sure to take the time to make them presentable – guys should trim their nails, and girls might need to touch up their manicure.

Recommendations Specific to Men;

Please be sure to shave directly prior to your appointment. The shadow can not be removed digitally. Moustaches or beards should be neatly trimmed.
If you are planning to get a haircut, please get it at least a week prior to the shoot so it has time to blend in and look more natural. also please be sure it’s trimmed out of your eyes.

Recommendations Specific to Women;

Girls may want to forego short sleeves or spaghetti straps if their arms are heavy, since these styles will only accentuate that feature. Basically, unless you have super model arms, don't wear short sleeves!

Jewelry;

Avoid wearing attention-grabbing jewelry. the photograph should accentuate your face, eyes and personality, not the jewelry you are wearing.

Makeup;

Look natural, don't try to wear more makeup than you normally do. You want to be as comfortable as you can be in front of the camera. feeling secure about your look is a big part of that. don't use too much make-up trying to hide blemishes. Avoid glitter or sparkly anything (powder, eye shadow, blush) – it tends to reflect the flash and leaves white spots. Also avoid too much lip gloss. It can also leave white spots from the flash or make you look like you’re drooling. It will be easier for us to retouch your prints if you keep a more natural look. Don't experiment!

Do bring makeup for touch ups

Hairstyles;

Wear it the way you normally do, for the same reason as above . The more comfortable you are the better you will photograph.
Use of a very light hair spray may help with stray hair and loose ends. Please make sure your bangs don't cover your eyes.

Suntans and Sunburns;

If you wish to tan prior to the shoot, keep it mild, if you get too dark it wont look natural you may have tan lines on your shoulders that wont photograph well.
If you get a sunburn, it is best to reschedule your shoot after your skin has had time to heal
